Carried by the same precarious tide of existence

I was in the process of painting this when the fires broke out in Los Angeles, when Altadena and Pacific Palisades were torn down in utter chaos and tragedy. Fortunately for me, my home and studio in Los Angeles were safe during this time, but we had to leave town simply for the amount of smoke and toxins in the air. This painting was not a response to the fires; I just so happen to be in the process of painting it (which normally takes a course of weeks for this kind of painting at 30”x24”), when the fires erupted. The painting is in no way a painting about fires, yet it seemed relevant for the moment. No multiple choice on the multiple choice.
